Three sHare lab members receive travel grants from ttu graduate office

Austin Vaughn (left), Armina Mim (center), and Viviana Dos Santos (right) receive travel grants from Texas Tech Office of Gradaute School. With this travel support, three SHARE Lab members will travel to Washington DC in October, 2023 to attend and present their research at 2023 Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) International Annual Meeting. Congratulations!

A paper on firefighter's situation awareness published in applied ergonomics

A research article on firefighter's situation awareness was published in Applied Ergonomics. It is Viviana's first peer-reviewed journal publication. The paper presents findings from a Goal-Directed Task Analysis (GDTA) to elicit SA requirements of firefighters for fire and non-fire emergencies. We hope these findings help future research efforts to improve firefighter's SA and design SA-supportive technologies. Well done, Viviana!

A paper on Disaster Ergonomics published in Cognition, technology, & Work

A journal article on 'Disaster Ergonomics' has been published in Cognition, Technology, & Work. This paper provides a systemic framework for Disaster Ergonomics that shows interactions between disasters, responders and response organizations (RROs), and disaster tools and technologies (DT&Ts). While this paper is largely based on findings existing in the literature, it will serve as a map for future research efforts for enhanced management of disasters.

High School Research Intern at SHaRE Lab

Evan Phipps, a high school research intern, presented his final presentation during the SHARE Lab meeting. For past two months, Evan participated in many research projects and activities, including BioPak (biosensing system) setup, operating the FLAIM simulator, observing data collection. Evan said his future goal is to become an aerospace engineer and his research experience would help him reach the goal. Well done, Evan!

Lab social event in summer 2023

SHARE Lab members had a social night. Corey and Jessica joined the event while they are visiting Lubbock for a summer course. Lab members enjoyed foods, drinks, and board games.

SHARE Lab members enjoyed the end of Spring 2023 semester. Some of the lab members leave for a full-time job after graduation and others also leave for summer internship.

SHARE Lab presents at 2023 houston hfes symposium

SHARE Lab members presented research projects at 2023 Houston HFES Symposium held in University of Houston at Clear Lake Pearland campus. They also met other people from Rice University, Texas A&M University, and Usability/Human Factors companies. They drove over 10 hours from Lubbock to Houston, and from Houston to Lubbock.

biofeedback research was published in jmir formative research

The use of biofeedback mobile app by college students during COVID-19 period was published in JMIR Formative Research. Dr. Rob Grace visits sHare lab

Dr. Rob Grace, an assistant professor in the Department of English (Tech Communication) visited SHARE Lab. Dr. Grace is an expert of technical communication in the context of emergency and disaster response. His main focus includes Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP)'s communication aided by various technologies. Dr. Grace tried out our FLAIM simulator.

Austin presents his research on nurses' cognitive challenges with EHR system

Austin presented his research on novice user's cognitive challenges with EHR systems using a hierarchical task analysis (HTA). This was his first in-person presentation in HFES International Symposium on Human Factors and Ergonomics in Health Care. The conference was held in Loew's Sapphire Falls Resort at Orlando, Florida. Great job, Austin!
